Fall Out Boy Announce 'Pax Am Days,' Stream New Song

The men who attempted to Save Rock And Roll earlier this year are back with new music, videos, and plans to reissue their hit album in the weeks ahead.

Over the summer, the members of Fall Out Boy revealed they had recorded nine songs with producer Ryan Adams that did not make the final track list for their 2013 album Save Rock And Roll. The songs were described as being more ‘punk/hardcore’ influenced, but the band remained quiet as far as plans to eventually release the material were concerned.

Cut to this morning. Just days after Amazon UK leaked information regarding a deluxe reissue of Save Rock And Roll, Fall Out Boy have announced through Rolling Stone that they are indeed planning to release the nine leftover tracks in the month of October. Referred to as Pax Am Days, the additional mini-album will be available as part of the Save Rock And Roll reissue, which hits stores October 15. You can stream a new song entitled “Love Sex Death” on RS.

So how does a more ‘punk/hardcore’ influenced Fall Out Boy sound? From what we hear on “Love Sex Death,” it’s clear the band is ready to show fans they’re far more than a high-gloss studio band. The single carries a raw sound reminiscent of early ’80s punk, with vocalist Patrick Stump taking a back seat to the rock fury pulsing from the guitars, bass, and drums. It’s about as much of a departure as imaginable from Save Rock And Roll, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how fans react to that change in the days ahead.
