Indie fans, rejoice!
After months of promotion and anticipation, Cage The Elephant have released a stream of their new album in full a week ahead of its release date.
There is a scientific name for all fears, including the fear of music. Those poor souls who go through life unable to enjoy music are said to suffer from melophobia, which just so happens to be the name of Cage The Elephant’s new album. The record, which was produced by longtime collaborator Jay Joyce, is comprised of ten tracks, including one that features Alison Mosshart of The Kills. You can stream the album in full on Rolling Stone.
Speaking about the band’s inspiration for the new album, frontman Matt Schultz offered:
With electronic music, it’s so new and revolutionary that it seems the possibilities are endless. And then on the other end of the spectrum, there’s this purist indie rock and garage that’s inspired by stuff like Velvet Underground and stuff from the ’60s. So what we wanted is to take that playfulness and swagger but have it open-ended like EDM.
Melophobia arrives in stores October 8. Comment below and let us know if you plan on picking up this release in the near future.
