A New Remix From Yonas

You probably don’t need me to tell you that Adele‘s new single “Hello” is currently ubiquitous. Open up your window, wait a moment, and you’ll surely hear it on the wind. There’s evidence that “Hello” has become self-aware and fully sentient, and rumor is that the song has secured its own recording contract and may or may not be dating Taylor Swift. Covers of this zeitgeist single are pinging off every corner of the Internet — a thing with corners, obviously — with mixed results. It’s best left to Yonas, then, to really do something new with this song. Yonas has spent the last couple of years helping redefine the term “remix,” taking popular singles and essentially rewriting the bulk to create a unique track. As with previous efforts, the Bronx MC forgoes samples in favor of a well-crafted full band version, collaborating in this case with the modern rock band Living In Fiction. Yonas riffs on the vibe of the original lyric with some self-reflexive, rapid fire verses of his own. As always, he proves himself one of the best independent rappers in the game.
