Bruce Springsteen To Launch Bootleg Series

While it’s true that watching a concert live is a completely different experience than hearing a recording, there’s been more than one time I’ve wished I could relive a show. Beginning Jan. 26th, Bruce Springsteen will allow fans to do just that, by offering a USB wristband available for purchase online or at the tour venue. With this wristband, fans will be able to pick one show of their choice to download onto their USB wristband.
Speaking to NPR about the idea, Springsteen said, “I’d like to make things more available through the Internet. The Internet has become our friend . . . I think we live more in a Grateful Dead touring idea, that everything you do is recorded now. And that’s OK with me, you know. As a matter of fact, I believe on this tour, we’re starting to do something like you can come in, you can buy a [wrist]band, you can get a copy of the night’s show. So hopefully we’re gonna do that at a really nice-quality level.”
Springsteen kicks off his tour in Cape Town, South Africa Jan. 26, before continuing on to Australia and New Zealand for a month of shows. Although he currently has no U.S. dates beyond the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in May, he told Rolling Stone that as for adding more U.S. dates, “it’s not impossible.”
