iRock: The Girlfriend Season

posted in: FeaturesPopRock

With the latest wave of pop/rock bands, electronic fusion using synths has become almost a requirement. The standard guitar/bass/drums/vocals lineup is now accompanied by synth/keys. The Girlfriend Season is using this arrangment to their advantage as they merge pop-influenced songs and electronic arrangements similar to those of Owl City with driving drums and heavy guitars. The band garnered extensive press coverage in both AP magazine and Substream magazine. They’ve even gained a feature spot on Purevolume.com for their song “Rocketship“. On top of this, the band’s music will be heard this summer in Abercrombie & Fitch retail stores.
The Girlfriend Season has worked with producers George Tobin and Mike Piccirillo (New Kids on the Block) and more recently Geoff Rockwell who is famous for working with Forever The Sickest Kids. Currently TGS is planning an extensive US tour so be sure to join their fan club on OurStage to stay updated. Listen to their song “Satellites” right here!
