Funk Soul Brothers

The borough of Brooklyn, New York, is a stronghold for indie rock and hip hop, so much so that it’s easy to forget that there are other kinds of bands out there too. Bands whose denim is neither too tight nor too loose, but fits just right. The Plaine Truth hails from the BK, but their blend of rock, soul and funk has the kind of wide appeal that foils any sort of geographic distinction. With the whinny of an organ sounding the charge, Wheels burrows down into a soulful groove. The Plaine Truth like their guitars chunky and their melodies rhythmic, as you’ll hear on tracks like Gone Away and Pocketful of Soul”the latter of which introduces some brightness with backup singer Danielle Harris. On the southern rock-styled Alive, singer/drummer Brian Plaine declares, I’m alive again and I’m ready to be heard. We recommend you give the man what he wants.
