Chris Fields’ “Crown” Video

Though Chris Fields‘ single “Crown” dropped over a year ago, the Brooklyn MC has given it a new life with a brand new video, released June 1. The song, which first hooked us with “a simple but menacing horn sample, with an even more intense chorus,” certainly deserves to be heard by a wider audience. Hopefully the new video helps toward that end. “Crown” is from Fields’ LP Dreams Are Forever.

Yonas Returns With “You F#cked Up” Single And Video

Get ready; Bronx rapper Yonas is back at it with a new single and video, with more on deck. The latest is “You F#cked Up,” a head nodding, mid-tempo jam that sits alongside his best singles. The video − another successful collaboration with director Mike Squires − depicts a torrid affair with a be-wigged mannequin. Watch it below. The new single is part of Yonas’ #SummerMonDaze series, which portends a solid summer of new music.

The House Of Jed: “You’ll Wait A Long Time For Me”

The House of Jed is some super-quirky, sonically rich, lyrically weird, totally unique, perfectly concise pop music that is still completely accessible and overflowing with hooks. I guess it wouldn’t appeal to everyone, in a Top 40 radio kind of way, but it’s right up our alley here, and so we’re going to keep talking about it. The new single is “You’ll Wait A Long Time For Me,” and it bears all the classic House of Jed hallmarks − crisp and clear, uncluttered production, tight and driving beat, and vaguely spooky (the extended bridge after the last chorus seriously reminds me of the ending of “Thriller”). Listen…
